Buying a manufactured home in Alabama
A few things worth knowing before you buy, whether you buy from us or from someone else.
Can I get financing on a mobile home?
Often, yes — but it works differently than a normal mortgage. If the home sits on land you own and is permanently attached, it can sometimes qualify for a conventional or FHA loan. If it's in a park or classed as personal property, you're usually looking at a chattel loan through a specialty lender. We're happy to point you toward lenders in Alabama who do this every day.
What's the difference between a single wide and a double wide?
A single wide is one section, typically 14–18 feet across and 60–80 feet long, and arrives in one piece. A double wide is two sections joined on site, usually 24–32 feet across, giving you a wider, more house-like floor plan. Double wides cost more but generally hold value better.
Should I buy a home on land or in a community?
On land, you own the dirt — no lot rent, and the property can appreciate. In a community, your entry cost is lower but you pay lot rent every month and the park sets the rules. Neither is automatically better; it depends on how long you plan to stay and what your monthly budget looks like.
Do you deliver and set up the home?
For most homes we sell, yes — we can arrange transport and setup through licensed movers and installers, and we'll quote it separately so you can see exactly what it costs. Homes already sitting on land are usually sold in place.
